Surrogacy has become an increasingly popular option for celebrities looking to start or extend their families. Cristiano Ronaldo, Kim Kardashian, Sarah Jessica Parker, and many other celebrities have shown us that there are many ways to have children.

Khloe Kardashian is following in her sister’s footsteps and has decided to welcome a new baby via surrogate. This will be her second child with NBA player Tristan Thompson, with whom she shares her four-year-old daughter True. The news came as a surprise as Kardashian and Thompson split after news broke in December that he was fathering a child with another woman. (This came after many years of on-again-off-again dating interrupted due to cheating on Thompson’s part.) A spokesperson for Kardashian revealed that the surrogate became pregnant in November before the breakup, and that the pair will continue to co-parent as they have successfully done in the past.

Despite the somewhat messy relationship status of mom and dad, it’s still a joyful moment for the Kardashian family. “We can confirm True will have a sibling who was conceived in November,” a rep for Khloe told E! News. “Khloe is incredibly grateful to the extraordinary surrogate for such a beautiful blessing. We’d like to ask for kindness and privacy so that Khloe can focus on her family.”
